About Our Equine Operations
Northport’s farm on Bread and Cheese Hollow Road describes itself as the oldest operating horse farm on Long Island, with stalling for twenty, a lighted outdoor arena and a heated tack room. Christy Alexander, who started riding at five and showed in hunters and jumpers, is one of the two people behind it. Board runs to at least a half-day of turnout plus customised feeding, daily grooming, tacking and untacking, tack cleaning, riding or lunging, night checks and vet and farrier scheduling; lay-up care is taken on as well. Lessons go six days a week in thirty- and forty-five-minute private and semi-private slots. Show team membership costs $350 a year and asks for six shows, twice-weekly lessons and a monthly unmounted clinic.
