About Our Equine Operations
Fifty-four years in, this 33-acre Southold farm at 37250 County Road 48 is run by Jackie Bittner, who has belonged to the Smithtown Hunt for over half a century and held its mastership for twelve years; she appears in the documentary Harry and Snowman and is mentioned in The Eighty Dollar Champion. Lessons run year-round by the hour and half-hour, and qualified students go fox hunting and showing over a cross-country and hunt course on the property. There is a large indoor arena with new footing, plus outdoor rings. Full board includes all-day turnout, with a groom living on site. Adults who would rather not ride can take a two-hour horse care and handling session for $125.
