About Our Equine Operations
John B. Madison opened Ocala Equine Hospital in 1997 as a surgical referral center for elective cases and orthopedic emergencies, working largely on racing Thoroughbreds; in 2001 it merged with two ambulatory practices to become the current P.A. Its pool recovery system, which the hospital describes as unique to the region, backs its fracture repair work. Imaging on site runs to high-field MRI, CT, PET, nuclear scintigraphy, digital radiography and ultrasound, endoscopy including dynamic respiratory endoscopy, and gastroscopy, with an in-house laboratory, laser and shock wave therapy. Six owner veterinarians practice here, three in surgery and three ambulatory, joined by five ambulatory associates and consultants including board-certified radiologist Dr. Natasha Werpy. After-hours emergencies are taken on a separate line.
