About Our Equine Operations
Pre-purchase exams are singled out as a specialty here, scheduled within two days of the first call and scoped in conversation with the buyer around intended use and budget. The two owners are Mitch Byrd, DVM, a 1995 University of Georgia graduate whose own history takes in licensed NSA training, yearling pinhooking and exercise riding, and Celeste Barker, DVM, who finished at North Carolina State in 2008 after concentrating on reproduction research. Diagnostics are portable: digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, a gastroscope and a Lameness Locator. Reproduction work spans breeding soundness exams, short cycling, artificial insemination with fresh or frozen semen, foaling monitoring and colostrum assessment. Listed surgery includes castrations, laceration repair, Caslicks, mass removal and enucleations. The practice is at 1231 Toolebeck Road.
