About Our Equine Operations
Horses shipped by Jim Welsh’s Waco-based company travel in 48- to 53-foot air-ride trailers with wide doors, low ramps and closed-circuit cameras, most of them in a stall and a half. The trucks stop at least every five hours, more often in warmer months, so horses can be offered water and given a chance to relax and urinate. Routes run primarily out of New York, Virginia and Kentucky to all points in the U.S. and Canada, covering farm moves, sales, show charters, track and airport shuttles, airline connections and quarantine movements, with emergency work taken at any hour of the day or night. Shippers need a Coggins and a health certificate, valid 30 days. The firm carries $1,000 of accidental mortality insurance per horse under MC-460587, D.O.T. #1130742.
