About Our Equine Operations
Cara Kaufer founded Reno Rescue in Verdi in 2010 to combine horse rehabilitation with riding instruction for people of all abilities. The 501(c)(3) nonprofit runs adaptive riding lessons alongside group lessons for all ages and skill levels, and boards outside horses across four tiers, from pasture board to a barn stall with an outdoor run, with twice-daily feeding and access to an outdoor arena, three round pens, wash racks and a private tack shed. Beyond lessons, the organisation runs a mentorship programme for Washoe County foster youth, equine therapy sessions for veterans and recovery groups, and a partnership with 4H Verdi Country Riders.
