About Our Equine Operations
Opened in 1986 and now staffed by more than forty people, including sixteen veterinarians of whom eight are board certified, this Ringoes hospital at 40 Frontage Road has been expanded to house 34 horses. Co-founder Dr Peter Bousum qualified at the University of Pennsylvania in 1969. Two surgical suites and a stand-alone, climate-controlled isolation building were added over the years, and the centre describes itself as the only 24-hour equine emergency facility in its region providing round-the-clock intensive care to hospitalised patients. Dentistry is a full service line, from oral examination under a sedation protocol chosen horse by horse through equilibration with controlled power tools, dental radiography, soft tissue disease management and incisor, pre-molar and molar extraction.
