Run by the King brothers on Compass Road in Gap, Double J Farms grew out of their own farming background into a business that mills poultry, swine, goat, sheep and equine feed using ingredients sourced from local family farms, with many formulas made without GMO grain. Horse owners choose among three 50-pound bagged blends: a 12-per-cent-protein entry mix, a 13.6-per-cent performance blend, and a 14.2-per-cent performance-and-digestive-aid formula. The farm also stocks alfalfa hay, described as its most popular option for horses, along with orchard grass and custom blends, plus bedding choices including pine shavings and peat moss recommended for older horses with breathing problems. Local pickup and scheduled delivery are both available.
