About Our Equine Operations
Stars and Strides Stables has run equine-assisted activities for children and adults with physical, cognitive, sensory and emotional disabilities from its Sandpiper Drive facility in Weatherford since 2012. The 501(c)(3) nonprofit’s coaches are certified through PATH International, among them programme director Teresa Miller, who has worked with horses and people with disabilities for more than twenty years, alongside instructors Misty Wright and Lisa Keefe. Riders learn English and western disciplines such as pleasure, trail and showmanship on retired show horses, and some compete in adaptive events including the Chisholm Challenge, the Top Hands Horse Show and the Stars and Stripes Spectacular. The organisation also runs a Patriots Program for military and veteran participants.
