About Our Equine Operations
The 140-by-74-foot indoor arena here is footed with masonry sand and Lightfoot material made from recycled athletic shoes, and riders mount from an elevated deck fitted with a mechanical SureHands lift. The 27-acre Aldie property, 16 acres of it pasture, adds a half-mile trail system, a lighted 100-by-200 outdoor ring and ten 12-by-12 stalls; it was a foreclosed soybean farm that the family of Richard Bacas, who contracted polio in 1944, refurbished in his memory in 2009. Rates are published at $55 a visit for adaptive riding, $65 for adaptive driving and $120 for equine supported therapy, which requires physician orders and a licensed therapist on the team. Insurance is not billed. Sprout reports serving 185 people weekly.
