About Our Equine Operations
SpiritHorse Therapeutic Riding Center of Canton delivers one-to-one therapeutic riding built on the SpiritHorse International model, a curriculum of 178 specific intervention steps originally developed for autism spectrum disorder and now applied across ages and diagnoses including Down syndrome, cerebral palsy and dementia. Lessons pair dismounted grooming and tacking with a 30-minute mounted session in an indoor arena, supported by certified SpiritHorse International instructors, horse leaders and side-walkers. Six therapy horses currently work in the programme, including a Haflinger, a palomino and a Rocky Mountain Horse, alongside a mechanical Equicizer used for extra practice. Programmes extend to an early intervention track for children under five, teen mentorship pairings, a summer session and vocational agricultural training.
