About Our Equine Operations
Nancy Simon has run Shorewood Acres in Grayslake as a family-owned boarding and training operation since 1994, teaching general horsemanship and reining out of a 30-stall barn with an attached indoor arena. Instructor Katie Donnellan, a University of Wisconsin-River Falls graduate in equine science who competed on an IHSA western team, teaches both English and western riding and brings a background in therapeutic riding for special-needs students. Fellow instructor Destiny Kohl coaches mounted archery alongside pleasure and speed events, drawing on earlier experience in dressage, breeding and grooming across multiple horse types. The farm also offers trail riding, horse camp sessions and horses for sale, describing its focus as youth and beginning adult riders while welcoming all levels.
