About Our Equine Operations
Schmitt Training Center at Cedar Valley Farm in Somerset is run by husband-and-wife team Rick and Kari Schmitt, who teach French classical dressage and natural horsemanship without relying on gadgets or artificial aids. Rick, who states more than 20 years training professionally and brings a physics background to reading horses and timing groundwork, works alongside Kari, a multiple USDF regional and national title-holder through Intermediaire I who holds USDF Bronze and Silver medals and studies individually with French classical master Bertrand Ravoux. Their Steps to Success curriculum runs through clinics, courses and demonstrations in a heated 60-by-170-foot indoor arena with mirrors and a regulation outdoor dressage ring. Haul-in lessons are open to horses current on vaccination.
