About Our Equine Operations
Salmon Brook Veterinary Hospital’s equine team provides field and hospital-based care from its Granby practice, part of a mixed-animal hospital that also treats cattle, small ruminants and companion animals. Equine dental care includes yearly exams performed with a full-mouth speculum and sedation, and covers malocclusion correction alongside digital dental radiography rather than routine floating alone. Diagnostic capability runs to two digital radiograph units using cordless technology, two mobile digital ultrasound units for tendon, ligament and internal-organ evaluation, and a portable gastroscope for confirming gastric ulcers, which the practice notes affect roughly 60 per cent of performance horses. The equine service list also includes breeding, field surgery such as castrations and wound repair, lameness exams, internal medicine and prepurchase exams.
