About Our Equine Operations
Volunteers launched Saddle Up! in November 1989, and it incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in 1991. It works today from a 34-acre farm at 1549 Old Hillsboro Road and expects to serve close to 180 children and young people with disabilities this year, holding Premier Center accreditation from PATH International. Therapy appointments are led by the organization’s own physical, occupational or speech-language therapists, who have trained through the American Hippotherapy Association and are supported by a PATH International Certified Instructor; sessions serve ages 2 to 19 with documented disabilities and are billed at $40 per 15-minute unit, with a one-time $175 assessment fee where needed. Adaptive riding, adaptive horsemanship, interactive vaulting and an equestrian club run alongside.
