About Our Equine Operations
A mother-and-daughter team, Vanessa Volker and Janice Volker, runs Lucky Star Equine Management & Training from Southwest Frontage Road in Fort Collins. Vanessa, who holds a 2002 B.S. in equine science from Colorado State University, describes 34 years across teaching, training, showing, rehabilitating and breeding horses, with a background spanning hunter jumpers, western pleasure and western performance; Janice, a riding instructor, previously ran the programme’s Florida division and now organises shows and themed events for students. The facility offers individual and group riding lessons for ages 10 through adult, horse training and finishing built on natural horsemanship and groundwork, rehabilitation of problem horses, and full and partial boarding. Clients can compete through an on-site show team, and the barn runs groundwork and specialty clinics covering arena trail work and family riding sessions.
