About Our Equine Operations
Little Bit Therapeutic Riding Center was founded in June 1976 by Margaret Dunlap, who had multiple sclerosis and found that riding slowed her symptoms; she began with one horse and five riders. Now based on a 14-acre property called Dunmire Stables in Redmond, the centre houses its herd in a 41-stall barn and rides across three covered arenas, one outdoor arena and a quarter-mile enclosed track. PATH International accredited and affiliated with the American Hippotherapy Association, Little Bit serves more than 500 participants annually with support from over 1,300 volunteers. Programmes include adaptive riding, hippotherapy delivered by licensed physical, occupational and speech therapists working with a horse handler under their direction, equine-facilitated psychotherapy, an equine-assisted leadership academy, and summer camps.
