About Our Equine Operations
Set up in 2005, this Madison County charity now works from Jacks Creek Riding Stable on Jacks Creek Road in Richmond, where a twenty-year lease from owner Bob Heyer gives it the arena, stalls, pasture and a second barn; the arena footing was replaced with river sand in 2021. It is a Premier Accredited Center with PATH, Intl., which also provides training for its instructors. Work is grouped under the term Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies and runs both mounted and on the ground, taking in school programmes, vocational horsemanship, an abilities course, a Cowboy Up! horsemanship merit system, families riding together, and Equine Services for Heroes for veterans and first responders. Cheryl Martin is lead instructor and mentor; Mark Martin trains the horses and directs the veterans programme.
