About Our Equine Operations
A 501(c)(3) at 7212 Wilson Mills Road in Chesterland, this organisation puts horses to work in counselling rather than horsemanship alone. Executive director Maya Simek is an attorney and a licensed independent social worker who also directs the Human Trafficking Law Clinic at Case Western Reserve; clinical director Sarah Swiger holds a post-master’s certificate in equine-assisted mental health and is Level II trained in Natural Lifemanship. Programmes cover individual and family counselling, groups for children and teens, custom sessions for professionals, one-day Equine Encounters for schools, and work with military, veterans and first responders provided free of charge. Methods draw on cognitive behavioural, dialectical behavioural and acceptance and commitment therapy alongside the EAGALA and HERD Institute models.
