About Our Equine Operations
Adoptable horses are sorted into rideable and companion lists, and the training ladder is set out: unstarted, started at under twenty hours of foundation work, then under saddle. Adopters need at least two acres of pasture per horse, safe fencing and shelter; every horse leaves barefoot and is intended for one rider only. The route runs from a call with the adoption coordinator through a written application with photographs, then a meeting with the horse and an adoption agreement, and any placement that fails must send the horse back. Animals too old or too unwell to place stay for good and can be sponsored instead. Christine Massinger is executive director. Alongside rescue work the charity runs Spirit Walk, using miniature horses, from Micanopy.
