About Our Equine Operations
Local farmers in Essex County banded together in 1917, forming the Essex County Co-Operative Farming Association after struggling with a loss of profits and the rising cost of equipment and supplies. Membership has since passed 6,400, about 2,600 of them active. The shop at 146 South Main Street, Topsfield stocks feed from Blue Seal, Cavalor, Nutrena, Poulin Grain, ProElite, Purina, Renew Gold and Triple Crown, plus forages and hay replacers. Its equine aisles carry bits, bridles, girths and breastplates, halters, reins, saddle pads, stirrups and leathers, whips and crops, alongside helmets, half chaps and children’s clothing. Most items are delivered within Essex County, and loft deliveries are available for large orders of hay and shavings.
