About Our Equine Operations
Dental surgery is unusually well developed here: oral examinations with a rigid endoscope, computed tomography for dental cases, extractions with power and hand instrumentation, sinusotomy, root canal treatment and crown restoration, most of it done under standing sedation. The hospital at 163 Daniels Road, next door to the Skidmore riding stable, also runs an ICU for emergency patients, arthroscopy, laparoscopy, gastroscopy and minimally invasive laser repair, backed by high-resolution radiography, nuclear scintigraphy and MRI. Axel Sondhof, DVM, MS, qualified at Munich and Cambridge in 1993, interned at Washington State, completed a surgical residency and master’s at Iowa State, and came to Saratoga Springs in 2000. He is joined by surgeon Jim Nutt IV, VMD, DACVS, and by two licensed veterinary technicians, Victoria Walton and Katey Rowe.
