About Our Equine Operations
Performance horses bound for slaughter, or injured and at risk of abuse, abandonment or neglect, are what this Colorado Springs charity takes in. Registered as a 501(c)(3), it describes itself as a 25-plus horse rescue, retraining and rehab operation at 1670 Spring Valley Drive, and reports over 127 horses rescued and more than 100 adoptions. A second site, the Green Mountain Falls Horse Wellness Meadow, gives horses coming out of racing or competition room to decompress. Adopters fill in a questionnaire and application, pass a home check before approval, then meet the horse and take a trial ride; homes in Colorado are preferred. Property standards include an acre of usable pasture per horse, solid fencing and a 12×12 shelter.
