Hermann Oak Grade A leather and sterling silver are the only materials Blue Ribbon puts into its custom show saddles, each hand fitted and finished, then inspected. Vern and Rita Habighorst started the shop in 1973; their daughter Lisa Hamm and granddaughter Kaylee Hamm run it now at 15026 N Cave Creek Rd. The catalog carries well over a hundred numbered custom models, all quoted by phone or email rather than priced online. Silver work is produced at a second facility in Guadalajara, Mexico, and belt buckles come custom or semi-custom. The shop also stocks in-stock, used and work saddles plus bits, bosals, breast collars, headstalls, romal reins, mecates, spurs, halters, leads and apparel. Tours of the Phoenix facility are offered.
