About Our Equine Operations
About 80 percent of the horses taken in by Animal Guardians Horse Rescue arrive from county animal shelters where they faced euthanasia, the rest from abandonment, abuse and neglect. The Simi Valley 501(c)(3), EIN 46-1912260, was started in 2013 by executive director Deborah Greene-Dellvon and co-founder Robert Dellvon, and it keeps no barn of its own: every equine goes into foster care or private board, seven to twelve a year, with only a few adopted out annually. Posted adoption fees run from $700 for Sherman up to $2,500 for the bonded pair Checkers and Josie. The rescue works with animal services in Ventura, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Riverside and San Bernardino counties and belongs to the Safe Stalls Network, the ASPCA Horse Action Team, the Parelli Foundation and the United Horse Coalition.
