About Our Equine Operations
The 7,000-acre working cattle ranch behind Aliso Ranch Stables was bought in 1910 from James Willoughby as headquarters for the Hobson Brothers Packing Company, and the stable’s history page calls it the oldest continually operating cattle ranch in Ventura County. Board at 4215 Aliso Canyon Road starts at $550 a month, drawing on more than 80 stalls in assorted sizes, 15 paddocks, two lighted arenas, two round pens, two wash racks, several acres of turnout pasture and 25 miles of trails, with alfalfa, orchard and oat hay fed. Manager Tina Frost coaches riders at all levels and trains horses as part of running the place. Lessons in basic riding, hunter jumper and reined cow horse are also given by Rebecca Sternadel, an independent contractor.
