About Our Equine Operations
In 1997 a single horse and a handful of volunteers launched what is now Hearts & Horses Therapeutic Riding Center in Loveland. The nonprofit occupies 23 acres on North County Road 29 in the foothills, keeps 31 equines, and in 2025 served about 670 participants with help from more than 32,900 volunteer hours. Programmes address physical, cognitive and emotional wellbeing for children and adults with disabilities, at-risk youth, people living with dementia and veterans, through equine-assisted therapy, hippotherapy, retreats, outreach, educational programming and research collaborations. The centre holds Premier Accredited membership with the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International and also serves as a PATH Intl. training site for therapeutic riding instructors. It states that participants are never turned away for inability to pay, and it has earned Candid Platinum status.
