About Our Equine Operations
Retired racehorses do the work at this Carson Valley charity, founded in 2014: thirty-nine have graduated its retraining programme and gone to second careers — Copper Halo rehomed within a fortnight to a jumping barn, Invertigo, 47 starts and over $108,000 earned, now a lesson horse at a nearby equestrian centre. Those that stay join what the organisation calls its facilitating team. Work is grouped into projects. Stable Vets serves veterans, active duty and spouses, with a women-only cohort; it began in 2015 with the Delta Vet Center in Modesto and moved north in 2023. Stable Responders covers law enforcement, EMS, fire, dispatch, corrections and probation. Everything is free to veterans and active duty, by appointment on Old Foothill Rd, Gardnerville.
