An MRI unit and board-certified specialists in both surgery and large animal internal medicine sit behind Montana Equine’s claim to offer “most services provided at a teaching hospital.” Founder and hospital director Dr. Peter Heidmann is board-certified in large animal internal medicine (UC Davis, 2005); the surgical roster includes Diplomates of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. Work spans lameness, surgery, internal medicine, reproductive medicine and preventative care for all life stages, with stated expertise in performance horse medicine. The Logan site, on Interstate 90 between Three Forks and Bozeman, is the practice’s main hospital; sister clinics operate in Helena and Billings. Emergency calls route to a separate line.
