About Our Equine Operations
What is now an eventing and dressage yard in Sherborn began in 1927 as Fairfield Farm, a 300-acre dairy started by Donald Rogers Mayo that produced milk through 1956. The Mayo family still owns the land, down to 60 acres after decades of sales, and turned it over to horses in the late 1970s before closing the milk business entirely in the early eighties. The first horse trials ran in October 1998 at novice and beginner novice, training level followed in 2010, and preliminary arrived in October 2017. Full board costs $1,550 monthly and brings five hay feedings a day, two to three Nutrena grain meals, owner-provided supplements administered, daily turnout weather permitting and weather-appropriate blanket changes. Stephie Baer teaches eventing, dressage and show jumping at all levels.
