About Our Equine Operations
Twelve grass pastures and ten dirt paddocks with run-in sheds sit behind two barns on North East Street in Amherst, and horses can go out for the full day, overnight, singly or in small groups. Feeding is three meals a day of the owner’s choice plus free choice hay. The indoor measures 68 by 128 feet on GGT footing levelled daily; the 110 by 150 outdoor is watered by wagon; there is also a dressage arena, a jump field, a cross country field and trails through the woods with a water crossing. Mara Niefer trains full, partial or by the ride, specialising in hunters, jumpers and equitation. Lessons go to boarders and truck-in students — the farm owns no lesson horses — and leasing can be arranged.
