About Our Equine Operations
Rising Starr Horse Rescue operates from Silver Spring Road in Wilton as a working rescue rather than a permanent sanctuary, having placed more than 210 of the over 300 horses it has taken in since founding into permanent homes. The 501(c)(3) saves, rehabilitates and retrains horses that arrive neglected, abandoned or abused before offering them for adoption, and it maintains a second facility in Staunton, Virginia. Its lesson programmes run year-round on the rescue’s own horses, covering thirty- to sixty-minute mounted sessions as well as ground lessons in natural horsemanship, feeding, first aid and barn care, alongside youth summer day programmes and an evening social riding series called Saddle Up & Wine Down. Volunteers have logged more than 10,100 hours supporting its rehabilitation and educational work.
