About Our Equine Operations
Rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing of criminally abused, neglected and abandoned farm animals is the stated mission, and horses are adopted out alongside the other species. The organisation works in cooperation with law enforcement and county humane organisations, and describes itself as open-admission. Adoption runs through a five-step route: review the process, submit an adoption survey, speak with placement coordinator Audra Agnone, choose a companion by appointment, then complete the contract and pay the fee; equine holds carry a $200 non-refundable deposit. Horses are listed through MyRightHorse, where the sanctuary is an ASPCA Right Horse adoption partner. A Short-Term Assistance Initiative, expanded from equine to all species in 2026, funds hay, feed, farrier care and routine vetting for owners in Portage and surrounding Ohio counties. Laurie Jackson is executive director.
