About Our Equine Operations
The practice became a full-service equine hospital in 1988, five years after cousins Richard L. Giacopuzzi and Michael W. Giacopuzzi, both UC Davis DVMs who joined in 1979 and 1980, bought the ambulatory large-animal practice founded by Dr. Weden P. Humphrey. Michael Giacopuzzi handles general surgery and lameness, Richard Giacopuzzi reproduction; Katheryn Browne, DVM, is listed as DACVIM-LAIM, a diplomate in large animal internal medicine. Endoscopy runs on both 1.5-meter and 3.5-meter scopes. Dentistry ranges from routine floats to oral surgery including fracture repair and extractions. The Somis site at 4774 Donlon Rd. holds an in-house laboratory with blood gas analysis, an ICU team, and a reproductive center that has been a Select Breeders Services affiliate lab since 2014.
